At First Church, All Are Welcome

As the first religious congregation in Buffalo, it’s a philosophy we’ve served our community with since 1812.

First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo

Founded in 1812, First Presbyterian Church was the first faith community in Buffalo. The congregation has worshipped in its magnificent building on Symphony Circle since the late 19th century. Throughout the years, First Church has played a dynamic role in the Buffalo community, and more recently on the West Side. Its ministries and outreach programs have enriched the lives of countless people in need, and its diverse membership has always welcomed people from all walks of life, ethnicities, and races.

Currently, several groups and businesses are located here on Symphony Circle. Houghton College, Explore Buffalo, Native Offerings crop share, and more. 716 Ministries manages the church’s facilities. Another faith community, Village Church, offers Sunday services on the third floor. Sharing such a large and beautiful space is yet another way in which First Church is dedicated to its ministry on the West Side. Despite the increased building usage, however, First Church continues to operate a full schedule of worship services, classes, ministries, missions, and programs for adults and children.
