At First Church, all are welcome
As the first religious congregation in Buffalo, it’s a philosophy we’ve served our community with since 1812.

Welcome to First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo’s website! We hope that you find us an open and caring congregation. No website can truly tell the whole story, but we hope that you like what you see and will visit us in-person for worship or one of our many activities!

First Presbyterian Church was the first faith community in Buffalo. Founded in 1812, it is often referred to as the “Mother of All Churches.” Even Teddy Roosevelt worshipped here!

First Church might be historic, but it sure isn’t stuffy. Home to a diverse congregation drawing from downtown Buffalo and as far away as Niagara County and Ontario, Canada; people from different walks of life and ethnicities can find a welcoming faith community.

Our Mission

The mission of historic First Church is to bring diverse people of metropolitan Buffalo together to follow Jesus Christ through worshiping God, fostering spiritual growth and serving the community.
